I got my new Brakesmart and it's a quality unit with nice clear instructions. I've heard a lot of good about these and I wanted the best. Everything is plug in, no soldering. You don't need the brake controller connector that comes in a plastic bag when you order the tow package with the Dodge. The Brakesmart cable plugs right into the factory connector under the dash. I still have to install my hitch, B&W Turnover ball and Companion fifth wheel hitch before I'll need the Brakesmart though.

Dieselnerd - Did you install the transducer on the master cylinder yet? How big of a hasel was that part? Seems to be relatively simple...

My Brakesmart is coming in Monday and putting it on a simular truck as you got, Except is an SLT, SB, 3:73's. Am just across town - Afton!

i have one in mine. LOVE it. i also have an exhaust brake. with the two i can stop VERY well weighing in at 26k lbs. i have a tri axle 32 foot GN i tow. the B&W is awesome as well.

i didnt install mine as i was in Iraq at the time. my dad dit it and had no problems. he didnt get it tightened down enough ad it leaked a bit of brake fluid out. tightened it down a bit and cleaned everything up no problems since.

I put mine in a few weeks ago and love it. Easy install and I didn't need the extra piece of brake line... . the sensor cleared ok without it.

extra brake line

I installed mine last night and used the extra brake line. It took about 3-4 cycles of pumping the brakes to bleed all the air out of the line. REAL EASY install---hardest part was plugging in the harness at the brake connector under the dash... the connector was up tight against some other wires.

Just a comment about bleeding the brake lines: After you install the sensor, don't attempt to bleed the lines at the brakes. Just leave the line to the sensor a bit loose and bleed the air out at that point since that's where all the air is anyway. If you attemp to bleed the air out at the brakes, then you end up with air all over the system.
