In my opinion, I've had no loyalty to Dodge specifically. My family drove everything but an import when I was a kid. Nothing against imports, but my dad always seemed to think they were too small (Datsun) or expensive (Mercedes). When I started buying my own vehicles, I looked at what's under the sheetmetal. I've owned 4 CTD trucks, and they've each served a purpose.
My point is just that I buy based on how the truck is constructed. For my needs, the perfect truck would be an F-450 crewcab 4X4 6-speed with a CTD and an 8' box. Unfortunately it's not made, and I don't have the cash to make one myself.
Of all of the trucks currently available, I think the Dodge is the best value, and the CTD is the main reason why. There may be advantages from Frod (crewcab) or Chebby (ride quality), but they carry disadvantages as well. And it's those disadvantages that make me glad I made the choice I did.
