As I have learned, try to keep the RPM's above 1500 using whatever method that works for you. In city traffic, I keep it in 3rd as the highest gear allowed, and upshift as my speed increases, and 2nd as the highest in bumper to bumper traffic on the freeways, and in LA thats for many miles. I've noticed my MPG has increased and the pinging is at a minimum. But why would the Dodge shifting strategy allow a CTD to run at 1000 RPM in 4th thru 6th, I think its a bonehead engineer that doesn't drive them. The Aisin is controlled by Aisin and Dodge has no input with them. They can only read the TCM that Aisin allows, and thats from the Dodge Factory reps.
