I am wondering how many people would be interested in purchasing a Brand New NV4500 with a fully splined main shaft and a bullet-proof fifth gear fix for less than DC will sell a NV4500 without the fully splined shaft or 5th gear fix. Make no mistake DC has not fixed these problems yet.

These transmissions are not rebuilt, although I could offer rebuilts with the fix for less than other shops you have heard about. Both New and rebuilts would carry a 12month/unlimited mile warranty. As stated above the transmissions are brand new and would cost about $100 less than any price DC dealers have given me. The transmissions would be modified and warranted, through me, by one of the biggest rebuilders in the country. Transmissions will be shipped promptly from stock.

You will also have to pay shipping and a $500 core charge. which l will immediately refund upon receipt of the core.

I will not be in a position to do this for at least a month, if I do it at all. It really depends upon the interest level.

Do dat dere transmission cum with the right juice in it or do it have da snakeoil?

I would like to know the details, cost etc. Drop me an e-mail when you get a chance... What kind of warrenty?

What would be the advantage over, say a Standard Trans rebuilt unit with the fully-splined mainshaft? They look over the parts carefully and don't reuse any stuff that is worn. After 100,000 miles, the NV4500s I have seen did not have noticeable wear on most parts. For comparison, Std Trans charges $1650 + 400 core for their units.

I just got my trans back from Standard Trans in Ft. Worth.

I spoke with the shop guy there and his words were "this unit is rung out" he said it was smoked from one end to the other. Nearly every internal piece was shot. If you live close or can get to Standard Trans... the rebuild process on your original unit is less than 1650.

They replaced everything in the case, fully splined shaft for 5th, turned my flywheel and bored out the center hole for the Kevlar pilot bushing and the whole thing cost me 1431. 00 with the tax.

Not bad after shoping around and they gave me two large bags full of the old parts. I did not know that much stuff would fit in the case.

BTW, 5th gear was completly distroyed.

I am thinking there is enough interest to pursue this a little more. I don't really have any details.

I really admire those who engineer a fix and sell people a better product and I believe Standard does just that. I won't knock Standard or any quality rebuild. There is simply no reason to do that.

I should have known not to throw this out without details similar to Joe's Article on the Std fix. But thats a lot of work,

and I already have a job, so I am really just asking, are there a lot of people out there who would pay a little less than DC prices on a new transmission that had a reliable fix. If so I may look into this possible opportunity a little more.

I'll watch this thread for a while and do a little checking before I get back here again.

Thanks for the responses.

Ok Joe,

Enough of the pimping for Standard Trans!!

We get the point you are on the take from them already!!

Do they realize that you will drop them when another flavor of the month comes along? Or you need new material for an article?

You could at least put in your signature that you are a VENDOR.

Stop hiding.

Details...

The transmissions I was talking about are detailed at:

There is no room for me to add any value to this as they will sell you one direct. So check it out. These people are nice and they really know their stuff. The prices they quoted me put everyone else to shame and they shipped immediately from stock. There is a diagram of their 5th gear fix on their web site.

Oh yeah, they run a fleet of Dodge trucks. Scott told me they just parted one out, due to body degradation, with about 500,000 miles on it.

Hope this helps some of you out. Yes, I was hoping there was room for me to make a buck or two, but there is not. If you do buy something from them as a result of this tell them Scott Morneau sent you. Nothing in it for me I just want them to know I am very happy with their service.

Whew, strong words MGM. But what the heck is the difference, oil or trans salesmen and/or representative? Your oil is by far THEE best we know cause you tell that to all A LOT!

I, on the other hand am in the production mode of high tensile strength, 400 series, Ti coated muffler bearings as we speak. Yes, these are the lightweight, indestructable, fits-all models, heat resistant bearings... not only that you get the GINSU!

Hmm, indestructable muffler bearings, huh? I might be interested in those if there designed to fit that rotary muffler just beyond the exhaust manifold... :D
