Are You All Wet?

A&W Root Beer

I'm a soda pop guy myself, or at least was a soda pop guy until diabetes got me.

People deride the giants (Bud, Miller, Coors) because of the supposedly low quality of their beer. They fail to remember that these giants are making beer for a huge consumer market, said market having pretty bland preferences - the taste is probably pretty bland as a result, but the quality control is probably some of the highest in the world. It is like comparing homemade bread to commercial white bread. These companies have enormous financial resources, if they wanted to make a Moose Drool type beer they could easily do it and turn it out in railroad car quantities.

The youngsters at work tell me there is a place in Fort Worth called the Flying Saucer that has 300 different beers available, if you work your way through the whole list you get your name on a plaque or something. Apparently they only let you have 3 varieties a night so it takes a loong time to get all 300 down. They call it beer drinkers paradise. Other cities have equivalent joints with much larger selection it seems. Looks like the beer gurus are overtaking the wine gurus as far as varieties available etc.

Will an unopened 2003 bottle of Moose Drool be worth big bucks 100 years in the future? I sure wouldn't want to pop THAT top...

:D :D

A few favorites

Anything from Midnight Sun (Local) Bitburger (german Pils) Chimay, Orval, Any Saisan (Belgians) There is a Budweiser I like but you cannot get it here in the States (Czck Pils) I think my do not like list would be shorter. Any commercial light beers (For folks who like to pi--) I know I am a beer Snob. Life is too short to drink bad beer.

Uh... Sleddy... . you double-posted :D The Iron City must have hit the spot !

Lone Star used to be all the rage in Texas, now all you ever hear is Shiner Bock, Shiner Bock..... :)

I remember college days in New York, where Labatt's was only $4. 89 per case :p But then again, large deep-dish sicilian pizzas were only $4 too !

Duffy's

Any crafted beer from the local brew pub.

Most anything on draught.

PBR from the Milwaukee brewery only.

Ringnes

Greenies

Black & tan at the Alki Tavern especially on taco night

I drank enough Blatz in college to hold me for life.

I drink Labatt Blue Biere. To me it is the most consistent bottled beer available. I really miss Costco in WA and $12. 50/case. Almost double that here.

Now, my wife's UNfavorite list.

Brew pup hopping in Denver after a plate of onion slivers at the Rock Bottom. I didn't like me the next day and no dog around to blame either

Doc Otis by Bush Brewery . This is coming from someone who can't stand the taste of beer but this is good. Also my son-inlaw is Assistant Brewmaster for Bush in Jacksonville. :D

Have not had a beer since 3-18-98 when I had wreck. I started out drinking Shiner beer and back in them days it had a  taste. You name it I drink it-been there done that.
