Prodigy Best price???/

RVWHolesalers.com has the V2. 4 (is that current) for $99. 99 plus another $11. 25 for the wiring harness. ANyone know of a better price?

I got the break controller from my dealer (promised in deal) today. They gave me a DrawTite Activator II. I was thinking about getting a Prodigy. Anyone have any recommendations?

Brakesmart! pros... unreal performance! Cons... high price. after being with my brother when he rolled his chevy Dmax when his trailer brakes failed, I bought a brakesmart for my truck. mainly because it will tell you if your brakes came unhooked or a wire broke before you try to stop... ... sold me ! after the rollover, price was not a factor. :)

Prodigy does as well...

After all the research, I wanted a Brakesmart. Problem was, I needed one for the trailer and couldn't get one anywhere. So, I bought a Prodigy under theadvice of numerous reviews on TDR and IRV2. I am completely happy with it. Install was quick, setup even quicker. And yes, it does show n. c when the trailer is not connected (or is disconnected).

Mounted on the knee bolster, right side. I agree with the previous post that I can follow my leg (quickly) right to the manual braking lever without taking my eyes off the road.

Someday I may upgrade to the Brakesmart, but the Prodigy works just fine for me. BTW, I'm pulling around 13,500#, so it's not a lightweight trailer.

The Drawtite is the unit I got in the deal when I bought our pop up camper which I was towing with my Tundra. When we bought this new 7,000# trailer and the Cummins last summer I took the unit and installed it in the new truck.

The reason I am replacing it is that with both trailers I could never get it adjusted so the trailer brakes didn't grab when slowing down from 15-0 mph.

This happend with both trucks/trailers.

Got stuck in traffic for road work this last weekend and spent 45 minutes crawling at 5-10 mph and the Drawtite drove me NUTS! I spent the whole 45 minutes trying to get it adjusted.

Read a lot about Prodigy and the price was right and nobody on TDR had a bad word about it.

I hope the Drawtite works for you. If not $99 down the road ain't bad.

I love my Jordon 2020 Ultima, I wanted a Brakesmart, but they seem to be slow at getting them to you. My Jordon is just like driving a semi, sure & precise!

The Jordon is a little more involved to install, but not much. And the price is the same as the Prodigy, cheaper on Ebay. I gave $79 + ride for mine, no regrets!

I do understand the Prodigy doesn't work very well with a liquid load.

I don't like the Activator II (had one on the 96) or any ramp style brake controller. Ramp controllers apply a preset amount of brake over a preset amount of time. If you are in a panic or hard stop it is the same as when you are stuck in traffic. Ie not enough brakes in hard stop; too much brake at idle speed. Plus the other thing I didn't like was in a panic stop if you wanted to add more brake with the manual control it only applied the brake that you had dialed in, you could not apply any more brake you had to spin the knob to get more.
