I just changed my 6 speed oil at 10,000 miles. There was the silver/grey sheen of metal particles in the oil. This is normal for break-in of a new transmission. It IS NOT something you should leave in for the life of the transmission unless you want that life to be shorter than it should be. Don't believe the dealier/factory steer manure advice that the oil in the 6 speed is "lifetime"

i wuld expect some residue in the oil however, how much, is too much, is up to you to determine. I ran a 5spd in my stang in highschool and it would litter the fluid with debris but never failed. I would sugguest a top of the line synthetic going back in it.

Also todd,
How much capacity does the 6sp take for oil?

I changed my oil in my 6-speed at 32K. Oil was in great shape, no visible particles in it at all. "Lifetime" lubricants are a joke... I plan on changing mine every 30K.

Thanks Evan, Somewhere between 15 and 30k I'll do it too
