Oil roll call- older engines only please.

MagHitec - Oil Drain Valve

Changed the oil and good thing, it stunk of combustion byproducts, something I'd expect out of our Escape with over 200K miles, not a new engine with 5800 miles on it. I ran 200 ml of new oil through a 5 micron pad. It all went through an left very little behind. Only 100 ml of dirty oil went through a pad before clogging up. Looks like it will be 5,000 mile OCI for this vehicle too.

Man I hate this new forum software. Hopefully the pictures come out. Still curious about any downsides from changing oil too frequently.

I think you answered your own question :)
The whole reason to change is to get rid of the contaminants. If it plugged up that pad imagine what the inside of your filter has. If pushed too far they will plug off and hit the bypass and bad ju ju is right around the corner.

Your wallet being lighter could be a downside.

I have friends who burned waste oil in their shop so it was recycled quickly, they were all for more frequent oil changes.

Unfortunately I dont have time to cut my intervals that far down below the minimum mfg., stuff.
