Greeting one and all,

My Lights are staying on in the display, Read in the manual that I can test the sensor control Brain ? under dash on passenger side. It says unplug and then ground unit and count number of flashes on display for code number. Do I ground out the plug or the module ? also never having done this before Do I just clip a wire to plug and ground to metal of frame or take screwdriver and ground across pins ?

Thanks in advance

I have fixed this on two trucks your RWAL sensor in the top of the rear end is more than likely your ABS light culprit and the brakelight is the copper tang just needs to be bent, straighten it out a little and loosen the screw that holds the whole assembly and move it downward a bit, hope this helps.

With the key in the on position find the female plug coming out of the box behind the glove box. It will usually be taped into the harness towards the bottom of the dash. Use a jumper wire to ground the plug for at least 5 seconds and the RWAL/BRake lights in the message center will start flashing. Count the number of flashes for each event, there will be a pause between numbers. You should get a 1-2 at the start and th end. The numbers between will be the RWAL error codes. Post them and I will find the list of codes for you.

Yes it is probably the sending unit in the rear diff, but, there a couple of connectors that will cause the same problems.

PS- don't unplug the box or you won't get the codes

If you are just interested in the lighting fix, you can unplug the controller behind the glove box and turn them out. Of course, you will get full/ normal rear braking under all conditions, which some would consider a liability. I look at is as an advantage, yet it still passes inspection.

Same Problem

My 1st gen also has the same error showing up intermittently. The second owner stated it has done this off and on since he's owned the truck and when I spoke to the first owner he said this was the case since day one!!

Daniel, If I read right your post right; you mean all I have to do is UNPLUG the unit behind the glove box and it will disconnect the ABS and I will have normal brakes?
