I have been getting LOTS of complaints lately with the level/amount of antagonistic/smack talk posts in the competition forum. I am removing this thread consistent with the forum guidelines, specifically:

2. 2. Post any material or comment that is considered to be "baiting" others into an unproductive conflict online. According to Webster's, baiting is: 1. ) to place a lure or trap; 2. ) to entice, especially by trickery or strategy; 3. ) to attack or torment, especially with persistent insults, criticism, or ridicule. Baiting is considered to be any post that intentionally badgers, heckles, or leads another user(s) into an antagonistic discussion.

The number of complaints I have been receiving has gone up greatly, with a number of people (not involved in the threads in question) weighing in that they are being driven out of the competition forum by it. Tone it down guys before we have to bring out the padlocks and erasers on a regular basis. Remember - this is supposed to be FUN, leave the discord at home please.

Well then, I think you need to standardize your enforcement application. It's very apparent that your criteria defers pending on the author…Do you need help?

some people can dish it out , but cry when it hit a little close to home.

I think that the TDR should remain neutral with regards to Diesel organizations . and not become partisan towards one, or the money behind one when they cry about people questioning the people in charge. Connecting these organization and the subsequent vendors providing the money as being the encompassing common goal for the diesel community

In plain English don’t take sides and cry foul when the ones you believe is being berated for a obvious conflict of interest .

Case in point the CEO of the DHRA is blatantly ignoring the accomplishments of Scott and Dustin Bentz , by proclaiming the technological superiority of the SCHEID dragster , which has yet to make a pass on the track. , and that no one has ever gone there before . Well Scott has , and for that matter so have I . If you take notice neither of the two fastest Diesels are now , and will not become DHRA members . there must be a reason

Also if you are going to apologies don’t do it by voice mail from a number you can’t return calls to , do it in public where the wrong was perpetrated .

If you are going to run a organization , you have to be impartial and not use your organization to farther your own goals . either race of run the deal, but you cant do both , by doing this if might appear to some people that you get fist pick of all the potential sponsors opportunities , and publicity , and use it to farther you own project , or your living!!!!!

And this is in no was meant to be anything towards Dan Scheid , whom I have the greatest respect for, but has some how become attached by proxy

So it's OK for Fletcher to race as well as be the Vice-President of the NHRDA? I personally think it's OK!!! :)

Oh BTW COMP I have had several conversations with Eric about Scott's dragster and he has had nothing but good things to say about it, and all that they have accomplished. Get off your high horse and throw away your manure spreader. :rolleyes: :{

Seeing as how I've taken 1 moderation action in here (this one) that I can recall for a LONG time your right at this moment. Based on the input from users I'm going to be watching this forum more closely and "standardizing my enforcement application". I haven't taken any moderation actions against anyone in here based on antagonism/smack talking that I can recall until now (other than a couple calm downs that were dismissed). I will be from here on out.

I am discussing with Robin right now where we want to go with this forum and am considering a poll from you users to get your input. What I do know is that as it is right now it isn't working. FYI - noone called foul on this thread. I've been getting various complaints over the last few months - MANY of those from people who aren't even posting in this forum nor are involved in any way with the threads in question as I said above. Many of those people have said they would like to participate in the competition forum but will not because of the state of it. This is an unacceptable situation. I have been watching this forum and it's content more closely due to those complaints, read this thread and decided to step in now and start to correct the ship. One possible solution is to implement a guideline much like the transmission guideline - you can talk about yourself and an organization your involved in but cannot talk about the other guy at all. I REALLY would prefer to not have to go down THAT road. However, if things don't get better in here that's exactly what we'll do.

BTW, we have no control over anything posted on other websites - we only have control of what is posted here. Also, this is not the place to air dirty laundry between organizations or individuals - and I don't care who that is.

I've been accused of favoritism before and all I can say is that it simply doesn't exist on my part. I have handed out strikes and have gone so far as to remove access to the site (suspension of privileges) to guys that I consider VERY close friends in the past over guideline violations and I will do it in the future as well.

Now I ask ALL parties involved in the smack talking/antagonism that is going on in this forum to get it under control or I/we will. Handle your arguments in private - not here in public.

I for one, enjoy reading the banter that gets on here. It is the "competition" forum after all. I got a laugh from the post that was zapped. I sure hope that this doesn't turn into a grouphuggingbackslappinglovefestforum. I can get that at other sites. Mike

I feel the love!!!!!!!!! Do Y'All feel it!!!!!!!!!!!! Oo. Oo. Oo. Oo. :-laf :-laf

Steve, I love the banter and the subtle and intriguing way that the members poke FUN at each other. Sure if it got ugly (personal), you may want to close it, or remove it.

This one posting that you pulled referred to a posting on All Diesel Motor Sports that my son Dustin (dieseldragger 1320 over there) took serious offense to. He responded professionally, and made his feelings known. Eric replied, and has apologized for Neal's comments. Dustin and I will deal with all of this when we get together this weekend in Indy. No big deal. We are all big boys.

To quote you, and I totally agree:

"Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming "WOW, WHAT A RIDE!"

So in that spirit, let us cut our victory circles in the lawn at the cemetary, running on the ragged edge of the limits. My vote? As I have said before and will say again, many brave souls died for the right to have the freedom of speech, and for darned sure, I respect it, and use it.

Bottom line, if people are complaining, they need to go back to another form of entertainment.

WELL SAID!!!

The direction this place is going makes me lean further and further away from renewal. there are other civilized forums with JUST AS MUCH info, without all the PC BS and having to worry about hurting vendors and dealors feelings.

This is of course JMHO

My 2 cents

The bottom line is we are human and we will always have a competitive hunger. It does not matter what the other guy is doing “ours” will always be better. I don’t think that anything should be censored unless a DIRECT attack is taken against a person in a slandering way. If I say that Fletcher doesn’t know crap about tuning a truck, that’s my opinion and nobody should take that away from me. If I post that he likes doing strange things with barnyard animals then it should be pulled and I should be suspended from the forums. If I take a shot at a sponsor of the site, to frigging bad, that’s my opinion. Welcome to the land of the FREE and the Home of the BRAVE. If you can dish it out but not take it, get some thicker skin. Last time I checked you had to be an adult to drive a vehicle, so that should mean that we are all adults? If you have thin skin and can’t take a little competitive ribbing then go to http://www.kidzworld.com/idealbb/ I think you will fit in on this board.

For those that want to sit on the sidelines and don’t comment, yet they want to complain. Speak up or shut up. If it doesn’t pertain to you, read it laugh at it or get upset at it but don’t complain about it. It doesn’t affect you in any way.

I read the goings on between the DHRA and the NHRDA guys, SO what. Like I said before what ever group you belong to is going to be the best in your mind. Why is it that the Dodge guys break the stones of the Ford guys and the ford guys to the Dodge guys?

The problem I have with this is censorship. I did not see the post in the last few hours before it was pulled but I had not seen anything in it that deserved to be CENSORED!

If anything in this world will tick me off quickly is censorship. I put my butt on the line more than once so that I can say and do what I want when I want and I will be dammed if some forum Nazi will take that away from me.

Add a trash talkin forum!!!

Personally I read all of greg, and gene's and fletchers posts. I love the competetive trash talk and banter amoung the people in the forums. Its what keeps the competition alive!

That said if some of the more "sensitive" members here on the TDR can't stand the trash-talking i have a propasal for you.

Steve ... how bout we go ahead and make a "Competition Forum -- Trash Talk" forum, and the footnote could be "WARNING -- if you don't desire to read potentially heated trash-talk and ribbing DO NOT ENTER", that way we could keep it in a localized forum, and keep it away from those "Virgin Eyes and sensitive ears"

Just my . 02
