Customer Service !

I have never seen a South Bend Clutch. Just from Peter's replys to folks, I have no doubt whose clutch I will buy when mine dies. Customer service is money in the bank. Good Show Peter.

I've traded e-mails with Peter twice and talked to him on the phone once. The e-mails came back ASAP with exactly what I needed to know, and the phone call was also quick and to the point. I also paid real close attention to what was said on these forums-from them I decided that South Bend would be what I would be buying. Con OFE is sitting on the floor waiting for me to get enough ambition to install it  -I have no doubt in my mind that it will do exactly what I want it to do. And on the off chance I have a problem I'm resting easy knowing that Peter and the rest of the South Bend folks will do whatever they can to make it right!

There may (giving the benefit of the doubt here!) be other products out there as good as the South Bend stuff-but no better customer service! South Bend for me forever!

Jason

Hey, nobody was attacking Peter out here!

I have the utmost respect for him.

Everytime there is a problem with one of his clutches, he fires another one off in the mail!

You have to respect that, and I hope other clutch vendors are watching and learning.

I have felt from the start that SBC makes a very good clutch for the medium hp BOMBers and Non- Sled Pullers. Which is the majority of the TDR market.

And then there is the minority which needs:

Sled Pulling W/SBC

I guess it all depends on good ole horsepower when it comes to sled pulling with a SBC. During the October show down in Tulare, Ca. I was witness to Peter's clutch being put to the test. I believe it was Quick Kurt pulling the sled and I'm pretty sure he's putten out at least 400 hp to the rear wheels. Peter was sitting right next to me and I have to admit that was holding his breath and I think he closed his eye's a couple of times too. LMFAO @ Peter :D :D

I think that Gene hit the nail on the head.

the MAJORITY use their trucks for daily drivers or light to medium hauling. not sled pulling. the two dont mix (period)

to spend $1600 dollars for a clutch that is made to abuse with a sled, when you will maybe once or twice actually use it for that is senseless.

the life cycle of a new product is only as long as the competition will allow it. Peter has done an excellent job of keeping us in good clutchs, and not side-lining while riding his name into the ground. like a few others have.

but Gene, the medium HP comment is straight out of the "24valve envy" corner :D

until those twins got on your truck, I think there were several others (ME included) that had more HP than you do :D :D

we just use it differently. SEE YOU ON THE STREETS :)

A quick update on the clutch. Peter sent new clutch and modified flywheel next day air and it arived by noontime. I delivered them and will pick up my truck tomorrow afternoon.

On the rooooaaaaad again:cool:

I will be hauling sheep on thursday local only. easy break in load for the clutch.

Kent

Thanks SBC:)

I disagree on that point, (I'll let the overvalve thing slide... !)

Mitchell's clutch is NICE on the street, much better than my last one. Smooth engagement, you can even back up a trailer without jarring your teeth loose.

But you are right the other way, you can't take a light clutch and pull with it.

You may be able to sneak a few in,(My Centerforce made 5 until it just spun. ) But you are shortening your clutches life.

What twins? I won't need twins to spank a lot of guys now, my poor truck had issues that date back to last April. They are all gone now.

Gene

youre killing us all... you dirty ol' man.
