Breaking Problems

I have had problems with my breaks before and after the new breaks were installed. When I come to stop the truck breaks feel like they are surging or a worble feeling nothing pulling left or right but the feeling like you might have if you had a heavy load. If I do have a heavy load it can feel like the front end is going to shake off. Any Ideas??

Probably warped rotors on your BRAKES. Several things can lead to what you have now. The rears may not be doing their part and are causing the fronts to take a real overload. You could have sticking pistons in the calipers, causing the rotors to overheat and warp.

Check your brake fluid lines to the calipers. . . . after ten plus years they will swell and eventually burst. Prior to failure you may get a pulsing since the line will not adequately hold pressure due to its bulging.



Slightly warped rotors will also cause this problem - the combination will really provide good shaking.

I have found out that if the rotors get good and hot causing them to warp, even turning them will not fix the problem. They will warp again the same as before. Had a brake job done on my truck a few years ago after the front brakes got cherry red from a master cylinder problem. Turned the rotors, put in new pads and stuff, and the next time I had to use the brakes hard the shake came back. Had to replace the rotors, problem was fixed.
