Silencer Ring?

Former owner replaced the breakoff with another breakoff. I ended up slotting it with a hacksaw blade and whacking it with an impact driver. Of course the fuel lines were not in place.

Hasn't anyone tryed a EZ/out?

An EZout may be the worse tool ever invented. If the screw is tough, it breaks off so the you end up with a worse mess than you started with. I threw all of mine away so I won't be tempted to use one.

When I took the "tamper proof" screw out of my pump I just tapped it a few times with a chisel and it was loose enuff so that it turned easy.

HEMIDart's method (long 1/8" drill and #20 Torx bit) is what I used and worked well.

If you have a impact driver, or can borrow one, you can get the torx screw started with a extension and a hammer and then put the impact driver on the extension and whack it with the hammer. Works everytime for me so far.

HEY FORREST,
Now just how much difference do you think it will make?????? HUMMMM
i am trying to decide where to put it the first time so maybe i will leave it there for a couple hundred thousand miles. otherwise i might as well put a zipper on the fuel injection pump, that might hurt.

JD,
the cap screws i got at NAPA are 19. 5mm long at threads, the breakoff that came with tst kit (#8 plate)has 18mm of threads. You think the 8mm heads will pose a problem on the driver's side??
Thanks
John

I have changed my plate twice and experimented with the location on my latest plate so I had it off about 8 times. Used chisel on brake off screw it came out pretty easy after a few wacks with a 20 ounce hammer. Replaced all 4 screws with allen head screws bought at Lowes for about a dollar. Just for your information the cam plate has about 5/8-3/4 inch front to back movement. At the stock location I could see no increase in power with new plate-275hp over 225hp plate- after experimenting with plate location- moving it 1/8 inch at a time I found the best location for power, smoke and egt. Good Luck
