The breather hose for the engine,on my 97 dodge I'm thinking is 3/4 inch? I would like to replace it with another clear hose. Where can I get one?

Home depot, lowes, tractor supply. Pretty much anywhere.

It’ll bow your mind what some folks take from a listing on eBay or Amazon.

I was in internet sales at one time and had over 100K powersports items listed on eBay and Amazon. I used the stock images from the manufacturers catalogs. Most tire manufacturers use an image of a tire mounted on a wheel. I had several “disputes” because the tire they bought didn’t come mounted on a wheel. Amazon made me take them back and refund their money. I asked if they thought because the image in a windshield listing was shown mounted on a bike, that it meant that the bike came with the windshield?

Had one woman that raised a big stink because she’d bought some ATV tires. The description read something like “Kenda 16x8-9 2PR Knobby Tire”. She had bought one thinking she was getting two pair, FOUR tires, for her $19.99 with free shipping. I tried to explain to her and Amazon the “2PR” was the industry standard description for “2 Ply Rating”. They said she was right and I owed her 3 more tires and that I had to change all my tire listings to explain the ply rating in the description. I told them I’m glad I wasn’t selling 10 ply tires...

If I had some left over I would use it. Plus it would match the rest of my hoses and boots being the pretty blue color. The little bit that goes thru this I dont think would be a major issue. If I was installing on a customers truck would just go to home depot and get the $3 version.

At the end of another supplier I found this note: Silicone hose is not compatible with fuel or oil.

Hey timd32, I did read that it was not for fuel or oil .what other hoses do people use for the breather?
I was wondering why the clear pvc tubing , would work.I would think it would not hold up to the oil or the heat, I could be totally wrong.Just don't want the tube to collapse, overtime.

Depends on the hose type. Our race car fuel jugs and fuel cell vent hoses was a clear Vinyl PVC, but agree you want the right stuff or it just gets hard as rock and brittle.

I cant find the web page for this but I guess the stuff Im talking about is actually a Vinyl Tubing made from PVC Components.

This is off the Home Depot App. On my phone.

Hey,when you guys say 3/4 inch hose,is that inside diameter or outer diameter? I've notice they have hoses that are 3/4 ID AND 1 INCH OD, and hoses that are 5/8 ID and 3/4 OD . Just want to get the wright inside diameter.
Thank Dave

It's not exactly cut and dry. Hard tubing goes by OD for measuring. Pipe is the opposite (ID) up to 12", then it too goes by OD. I would "think" flex tube would fall in the same category as hard tube but am not 100% sure.

It's 3/4" ID. I replaced mine years ago and used 7/8" dishwasher rubber braided hose as it can handle the heat. It's a tad loose at the nipple but easily made up with a SS hose clamp. Be sure there is no belly in the line and clamp to the frame (or?) . I routed mine just aft of the cab and terminated with a slight downward turn to eliminate body / frame contamination.

Thanks BoeingDiesel, I'm not sure what belly in the line means, did you mean no bend in the line? I'm going to hoke it up to a MOROSO BREATHER TANK 85465 on the inside of the frame.Do you think a silicone heater hose would work? its rated at -65°F (-54°C) to +350°F (+177°C).

Savage, your choice in silicone is a bit of an overkill but will work just fine. As to the belly...you don't want a low spot to where oil blow by will accumulate ( like a sump) and create a blockage for the breather to do its job.

Oil will cause the silicone hose to soften and swell. I’ve seen some 1” hose come off some of our buses look like it was a radiator hose it had swelled so much from oil in the coolant.

Just measure the nipple on your breather so you know you have the correct diameter and go to your local parts house and tell them you need some hose rated for oil. They should have it by the foot.

Well I end up buying eaton aeroquip AQP FC332-12, from PEGASUS auto racing supplies. Works with all types of fluid, mostly for oil lines. Now just have to wait till my surgery on my wrist, then once healed, start projects.
