2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Bridgestone, Michelin or BFG's?? 2wd

I'm going to get a set of 285/75-16's on my 2wd 2500.

I'm down to Michelin LTX M&S, Bridgestone Revo's, or BFG Longtrails. I'm on the hwy 95% of the time & I'm looking for long life.

My truck came with Goodyears on it, after they wore out I went to General and actually got more miles out of them than the Goodyears. This go around I went with Cooper and have pretty pleased with them the tread is deeper than the Generals and they proved to be much better on wet roads. I have the Cooper Dominator LT235/85 r16 load range E. I tried Michelin and didn't like them. I know some tires give a better ride and that's what we are all looking for as well as long life. For me it's a matter of cost being that I have a dually. If you have a Discount tire location I strongly recommend them, I have bought all my tires through them and the customer service is awesome.

My 01 4x4 came with the Michelin LTX's on it. I have 76K on them and still have 5/32 tread left. 15% of this mileage is towing a 5'ver with a 1800# pin. These don't do very good in mud but perform well in snow & rain.



You can guess what I'm putting back on it!

The Michelin LTX load range E tires I have on the front have over 100k on them and I expect they will last another 50 k or better. My back ones are over 50k and I'm pretty sure they will make it to 100. About 65% of my miles are towing and over 90% is highway driving.

I'm on the 2nd set of Michelin LTX M&S LRE LT245's on my ride. Got 115000 out of the 1st set and currently have 119000 on this set.

Be sure & get the 285's with the "D" load rating. Otherwise they likely won't last very long

I went to the BFG Commercial Radial last August and like them so far. These are LT 235/85/16E and ride well. I went with a taller tire to make the speedo correct (GPS verified) and I went to a narrower tire for wet traction during braking. I drove thru a terrible storm earlier this year with water standing on the road and never felt the truck hydroplane once. The BFG are wearing like iron so far.

I have had the stock mich ltx's and the bridgestone revos. The revos have 50k on them and will go a bit farther. The michelins I switched out at 62k and had I not run them underinflated and had a proper alignment they would have gone 80k+. So the Michelins will give you longer life but the revos are better in the wet and snow for sure.
