Since my truck is on order now I have been thinking of ways to make it different then the other 3rd gen trucks. 1 thing that came to mind last night was the 3 tone that Dodge did from the factory til about 2001 I believe. I loved that scheme. Blue over Silver over Blue again. Well, since I ordered my truck Patriot Blue, I may get my buddy, whose is a professional paint & body man, to tape off the top & bottom and paint the middle Silver. I think the 3rd gens have the body lines to go with it.

Just wanted your opinions on the subject... . whatcha think?

Although I prefer a monochrome paint scheme I always liked red/black/red :) Dad had a Chevy that was black/grey/black and that was nice too.

I always liked what Dodge called the "waterfall" two-tone paint scheme, where the color break was up high on the body (the upper of the two breaks for the subject "three-tone" scheme). Essentially, the body sides were one color, and the hood and cab roof (and pillars) another. Unfortunately, back when I was looking at only 2500s before I bought my '98, it was only available on 3500s. The early literature and ads for the 2nd gen trucks frequently showed a 3500 in black and red in this scheme.

Paint works

i have a 2006, love the truck, but want to have the old style paint pattern. I too thinking about some paint work to make it more different. I hate to say it but Ford has the best colors and fancyest interiors, King Ranch ect. I wanted the seats that come in the Viper motored truck. I don't care what they would have cost. But Dodge just can't seem to make that a option. That's just plain stupid !!!

Someone did do the waterfall scheme to a 3rd Gen, saw pics of it on TDR a long time ago. It looked OK but not as good as the 2nd Gen. The body lines just aren't as condusive to the sceme as the older trucks, IMHO.

I have two tone pics in my readers rig area. My truck was black, I painted the lower half a dark graphite with a bright silver graphics at the meeting point.

It is kind of frustrating. I almost bought a King Ranch just for the interior. Dodge is really missing out on a good thing here. They should make tons of stuff like the SRT-10 seats dealer installed options.
