Any one had trouble with there Brite Box plug ends getting dry & brittle after install. I had to change out a dead bulb over the weekend and both my sockets CRUMBLED trying to take the old bulbs out. One of the wires even came out, so now I am back to standard set up. TIA... Scott

Scott,

A little background . . .

The Brite Box plug we make for the 9004 / 9007 bulb is made of a different material than the stock plug. Why? Because of a four letter word that starts with "F" - Ford. The factory Ford headlight plug is notorious for it's terminals losing their "spring". This loosens the connection to either the Brite Box's female connector or the headlight bulb if there is no Brite Box installed. The looseness of the Ford plug increases resistance, and therefore current draw to go up. The result is a melted plug, Brite Box or not.

In response to the problem, our plugs are shot in a high temperature material that can withstand the situation listed above. The only drawback is that the material is more brittle than ABS plastic stock plugs, hence the problem you have experienced. All you have to do is call and we will send you a replacement plug.

If you've turned on the DRL (daytime running Lights) make sure that you have the low beams turned on... . the high beams will give you fits with this set up..... I've got a new set to install after the first set failed..... I'm waiting for the truck to get back to the dealer to change the DRL from high beam to low beam... ... .

Jim please explain the DRL. I was under the impression there are no DRL on these trucks. Now if you mean the "parking" lights thats another story.

I too am planning on ordering up a set shortly!

Michael

DRL can be turned on in less then 5 min. NOT the parking lights! I have it on mine and it is low beam, but it used to be like 50% to 75% of the beam power I "THINK" you can ask what power % you want when turned on on the '05's Not sure on that I was just happy to have them on here in the DC Metro area.

No problems with my brite box. I just replaced the lower drivers side foglight (burned out) and it was as easy to put in as the first time. I have nothing but good things to say about the brite box and the service from OCLV (Joel)/ Bakers Auto Accessories. :D:D:D
