I just got my Brite Box from Genos and installed it, what a difference. It makes driving on dark roads late a night a breeze. You can see EVERYTHING. I have after market driving and fog lights but they dont work this good.

Took all of 15 minutes to install, no cutting any wires either, all you need is an adjustable wrench.

Do a search of the archives under britebox, I posted instructions on how to do the same thing for free a long time ago, and some other members came up with other variations, also how to have your fog lights on as well. I myself wasn't quite satisfied and put on some daylighter housings with 250W GE aircraft landing lights in them. They turn night into day!

Hey Arcticat, how did you manage to have 500 watts of light without major meltdowns?. What size wire, relays, etc did you use for that setup?

The bright -box does not work properly on at leats the 99 CANADIAN trucks with high beam DRL's.

I have been in touch with JOEL several times when I had the time, but no cure yet after 2 boxes.

He has even had me go as far a splicing into the factory harness to make my DRL's low beam. After doing this I lost my high beam indicator. So it has been returned to fact wiring.

Joel is a stand up guy and believes in his product so I;m sure after a few more calls he will have it fiqured out.

What they need is some sort of pigtail adapter for the CAN trucks. Splicing into a factory harness is bull when you pay for something ready wired. I could have done the relay thing on my own without the inconviences I'v had already, and would have done so but their products have served me well in the past.

CANADIAN consumers beware because this product can and will leave your lights on after shutdown when it feels like it. Other than that it works as advertised.

I'm by no means saying don't buy this product, it is just a heads up. If purchasing ask if they have a cure for this prob.

I also have had 2 brite boxes and both of them went haywire and would not allow the lights to shut off without disconecting the battery wire. They also left the high beam lights on all the time according to my dash light. That is how I would know that another one has gone nuts. I think they need a heavier relay or some how they back feed current to themselves???? The last one is currently unhooked and I will remove it as soon as I have the chance as the headlight that it is plugged in to shines dim and yellow now. Someone had posted a double relay kit for the headlights for $50. 00 and I was going to order one but lost the bookmark when the new netscape was loaded. It was a whole lot easier when we had floor dimmers and we just scotch locked the hot wire to the low beam wire so that they were both on on high. The brite box was nice even at $100. 00 when it worked though.

I think your set up is different because of your law of manditory day time running lights, so its most likely a whole different set up.

I agree, Joel is a great guy, i called him before i ordered the box from Genos to ask what the failure rate was and he was very honest, he said some boxes have failed but were replaced free of charge. He said the biggest problem is that you CANNOT use a Brite Box with anything other then stock headlight bulb wattages. He said anything with a higher wattage and you risk burning your harness.

EMD, I used 10gauge wire and a 75amp relay triggered off the hi beam switch, with a 50amp circuitbreaker coming directly off the battery. You can get the electrical stuff from wrangler power products in Washington St. - They have alot of cool HD electrical stuff. The housings were stainless steel KC knockoffs from JCWhitney. I swapped the lamps that came with them for GE lamps I got from Aircraft Spruce airplane parts supply. They are only rated for something like fifty hours but I have had mine for about 2 years or so with no problems and I have talked to people who had them for alot longer than that. Pretty cheap setup, but works great.
