After tearing up my hands replacing my headlight switch, I decided to do whatever it takes to not have to do that again. :D However, being lazy I decided that the Brite Box might be the way to go instead of wiring in relays.

Has anyone used one of these? It looks strange to me because it seems to only have one plug in on it--almost like it'll only work with one headlight. That seems kind of silly though, so I doubt that's the case.

If you've got one on your first gen, how do you like it?

Thanks,

Mike

Mike,

I don't think this will do what your looking for, the bright box uses a seperate power feed to feed the low beam circuit during high beam operation but all standard functions are still drawn thru the head light switch.

I have'nt tried a bright box, just info i've gathered from the web.

Thanks Rick--I did some more poking around and think I found a better solution. Painless wiring seems to have a kit that'll do the job. According to them it uses mostly 14ga. wire instead of 12, but the main thing is that it uses relays to take the load off the switch. Check out the kit here: http://painlesswiring.com/relayheadlight.htm

The part number I ordered is #30815. Painless doesn't do retail sales, and they suggested Summit or Jegs. I ended up ordering from Summit. I could have wired up the whole thing myself for less than half what the kit cost, but I'm getting lazy. :D

Mike,

That looks exactly like what i've put on mine, i bought what looks to be the same system from Jacobs Electronic, they used to sell it as a headlight brightener, but they quit making products for these old antiques a few years ago, i've had mine in for a good while and never another problem, and i can see at night, i pulled the power for mine right off the alternator output ... ... ... ... .
