I broke down today twice. The truck started and idle funny then stalled out. I started it back up and start to drive got up to 20 mph then stalled again. Start it again drove fine for about 20 mile then stopped. Started it up and the something happen again. Is this a fuel pump going or a dirty fuel filter? My truck is a 2000 ram quad 2500 with 138,000 miles original fuel pump. Any help?

Check your fuel pressure. This is the only way to really know what is going on. You can use a QD gauge and hook it directly to the VP. You are better off getting a gauge or a low fuel press LED (gauge is better). If the pressure and volume drops to low for too long you can fry your injection pump.

When was the last time the fuel filter was changed?

You can check to see if your lift pump is working by: Opening the hood, put key in ignition, bump starter but do not start truck, leave key in the on position and with the engine off go peek under the hood and see if you can hear or feel the lift pump running. You can usually hear it from inside the truck. Keep in mind... . Just because you can hear the pump does not mean it is ok. You need to check the fuel pressure.

The lift pump is located down and behind the fuel filter cannister on your truck.
