Competition Broke my timing pin

My timing pin in my P-7100 broke when i forgot to pull it out. I was putting 60lb valve springs in when i forgot to pull the pin and it sheared off one of the teeth on the pin. It's plastic so should this be a major concern or should i not even worry about it? Where can i get a new pin?

You can pull the timing pin by using a 10 or 12” long piece of 3/8” water pipe as a lever, with a U-shaped notch cut in one end to slip over the stem of the timing pin and to trap the knob on the end of the pin. After you pull the pin and star washer, use a tool like an ide pick with threads on the end to grab the tip that broke off and pull it out of the camshaft gear hole quickly. Your local Cummins dealer can sell you a new timing pin #3903924 and o-ring 3913994.

You broke the pin off in your pump correct?

Bosch dealers sell the pin, I hear its about $50.

It would be difficult to get the pin out of there without removing the pump and turning it upsidedown since you cant fish down there with a magnet.

Theres always the chance it can get hung up in the governor and make your RPMs hang up a little.

I thought he meant the timing pin in the gear case, in that case an ice (typo ide) pick type tool etc. would work. If he broke off the nylon fork on the blade in the governor housing, he probably bent the blade and the only good fix is to diassemble the governor (pump shop work, not at home) and replace the blade assembly. Or, ignore it and put the timing fork back with the metal end inwards like you usually do when not using it to hold the pump at TDC.
