Competition Truck pull in Osgood In.....

Competition Pro Pulling League Diesel Truck Rules

Really i dont know what happened yet. I just got back from the fair where i was attempting to flat drag (150 ft).

We were running pro lights  something light that, where all the yellows light then green, we were already prestaged.

The first pass was just practice and just for fun, so off course hooked great except i was the first one in line and the track was a little muddy so i spun half way.

The second i didnt have the turbo lit all the way and just barely got beat but was gaining hard. (still lost though)

The third i was building boost and at about 7-9 psi it was singing so i inched it forward and let off a little to much so i had to lite the turbo again. At the same psi it was sounding so beautiful and i was trying hard to feather it to the line and keep it lit all at the same time, i lost it alittle and about the time i staged i just got it back and was ready to eat some lunch the light turned yellow and just as i was going to let out the transmission went pop  .

After i got towedoff the track i had nothing in the forward gears and when i put it in reverse it would kill it.

Any thoughts of what it might be. Torq converter? You could smell the burnt transmission fluid and there wasnt any fibers on the dip stick. The only thing i dont have billit is the intermediat but i dont think that would be it. I didnt leave any puddles anywhere.

JCutter :(

Sounds like I joined the "f'ed up transmission" club

I did pretty much the same thing you did when building boost. .

All of a sudden trans temperatures skyrocketed and the trans temp light came on. . I launched but had no get up and go. . it slipped BAD and shifted erratically. .

Could not get the shifter out of drive for a bit, then finally got it out.

Trans has the engine under a load, even in park. Reverse loads the engine but its bound up. . I only have forward gears. Neutral doesn't work either.

I'm going to Iowa tomorrow and Dave should have it fixed up by Wednesday.

I am driving it down there... hopefully I don't get in any situation that I might have to "off-road" as I don't have reverse :-laf

same thing here

well my dad as been driving my 01 for the last year and he called me saying the trans was having issues it is doing the exact same thing as you described... I have not had time to go down and tow it home; I did drive it from Orange County to Riverside and let me tell you that was not a fun drive I do not know that I would recommend trying to drive ti home as it gets worse as you drive and hills forgett about them you will not be a happy driver... .

Also I cannot get the T-Case into Neautral even if the engine is off which I cannot figure out if there is no load why would it not shift out into Neautral?

SOrry ive been gone all weekend moving my mom from New Mexico to Indiana and just got back. Ill have to call the shop tomarrow for any info. They were closed last week for vacation.

When i got in just alittle bit ago i had a message from Stefan (sorry if spelled wrong) saying that he read or heard about the problem and to give him a call. I thought that was great customer service now. Bill mentioned that it could be the (sprag?) in the back of the transmission but would have to wait until tomarrow when i can run down there and see.

So far i guess i havent broke the DTT (didnt really think i could)

I would be the first in line to back you up and say Bill and all of the DTT crew are great they have always treated me like family and have bent over backwards to make me happy and that is why the 05 will eventually get one as well!

i would also be in that line !!!!

I hope its just that. I still have my stocker that i can take off and replace, hopefully.

Of course a stronger one would be good to along with an intermediate shaft also since it down.

I was a little surprised when I saw the title of this thread, and that you didn't call them first. When you get specialty stuff from any good diesel vendor, that vendor is probably the best place to turn to when there's trouble. If they have to find out via the internet that there's an issue, it will just take you longer to get to the root of it. DTT is known for bending over backwards for their customers, and often can help solve issues that are not even in their trannies. I hope it's a simple fix; good luck! :)

Rhonda your post makes me feel that you think im slamming them. Im not. I had to leave the next day 2000 some miles to my moms and was gone for 4 days. I was also going to wait until the shop broke it apart to see what exactly it was before i called so i knew what it was and just didnt sound like i was guessing (even thought bill more than likely knows)

Im hoping to find out this morning.

yep it was a stocker. As for HP i dont know what it is maybe around 550 w/o the nitrous thats what im guessing with the 220 inj. I run a 13. 1 with my 150 inj.

Im going to go down in the morning and get the rest of the shaft out and see if it did anything else.
