Hi Guys, I finally convinced my Ford loving brother in law to get a Dodge. About one month old now, his brand new 2003 RAM 2500 TD 6 speed let him down. He only had one cow in his trailer and broke a rear axle taking off.

Could this be a freak thing, or have any of you guys experience anything like that?

Sounds kinda freaky to me. How's the cow? And what do you drive? I've launched my 10,400 lb 5th wheel quite a few times and haven't broken anything.

My Ford loving buddy's F-350 CC dually automatic/4. 10 diesel won't hold O/D in the rolling hills of north Florida pulling a measily 9700 lb TT. But it's a Ford!

The maker of the rearends DC is now using has been making them for GM for some time - they probably aren't used to functioning with REAL power and torque... :p ;) :D

Hum that American axle should be stronger than the Dana 80. Theres a bad one in every batch, there have been enough problems with the 80's too, especially with carrier bearings.

Maybe DC got them cheaper by using a shaft half the size. . :D
