I have been reading up on the broken flexplates. I bought a 92 with a known broken flexplate. I got the flaxplate out yesterday and the center is broke out. There are some grooves in the adapter at the back of the engine, but no cracks like the other post. I wasn't worried earlier, but wondering if I should be concerned about the convertor for any reason. Thanks.

My thoughts would be to replace the converter while you have it out. Not because it might be damaged but because it is (if it is factory 92) a real slip a matic. A tighter converter will serve much nicer.

Examine the hub that fits in the crank and the drive shank and be sure the seal surface there isn't damaged from the problem with the flex plate. Other than that, it ought to be ok for socker mom type driving. (And of course put a new seal)
