Just a heads up. I was prepping for the annual trip to Colorado hunting in a few days and discovered that the rear fuel tank strap was broke. The outboard end has a chevron piece about 2" long that engages a slot in the frame. The chevron tab is spot welded to the stap and had broke at the spot weld.

It was a simple matter to remove the strap and do a proper weld with my Lincoln wire welder.

I hate to think what would have happened if I hadn't caught it and the the front strap had given way while the wife was a hundred miles away pulling horses. Or even worse, it failing halfway up one of the passes we pull on the way to Montrose, Co.

Yikes! Did you see any evidence that the spot weld had been missed a bit, when done? I've seen spots which looked like the electrodes were not aligned or something, and the result was a very poor spot weld.

I think I'll check mine next time I'm under the truck.

:p My 94 tank strap broke at a little over 106k, same scenario, getting ready to drive to the west coast on vacation and put it up on a lift to check things out. We rewelded it and is still holding. :D :D
