a buddy of mine had a fuel leak that he asked me to look at. The truck died and would not start. I found the #4 injector line was leaking from the injector end fitting (between the tube and the fitting) I also found that the clamp setup on the line was loose (another line had the bracket not even bolted to the head). Would the clamp not being tight cause the line to start leaking?

or was it just a bad line? He only has a VA C3. 1 so I don't think it caused the problem, did it?

He was lucky though, I had just pulled my injectors to send to F1 so I gave him my #4 line and he ordered another to replace mine. a new line @ the dealer was $30. I saved him a tow and a rental car plus his $100 deductable.

man lucky for your friend you were there ! The screw not being tight could very well have contributed to the leak. You also have to be careful when tighten down those ends. The torque needs to be exact or you will deform the end of the tube and it will leak. The cummins specs for the rail and feed tube connection is 22lbs
