I had a sign post jump out in front of me today and hit my passenger side mirror :mad:and now it won't stay locked in position . Has anybody out there ever had this happen to them ? And if so , how did you fix it ?

It looks like my mirror is sitting about 1/4" above the base now . I've read all the posts on mirror swaps . Do I have to remove my mirror and reclock my spring ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated . Thanks .

Yes it can be fixed. I just got done doing one myself. There are 3 round balls inside the mirror base. One of the balls has jumped a hole. You have to take the mirror apart and reset the balls.

hope this helps

Eric

Thanks , I'll give it a try . At first I thought it may just be the spring stretched out a bit , but since it doesn't drop into the detents at all that doesn't make sense . I'll try to fix it and if I can't then it's off to the junkyards to find some 03-05 power heated upgrades I guess . Now I have some justification to give to the accountant ( wife ) for new mirrors .

I finally got some motivation today and got it fixed. I took the mirror off the door , put it in a vise upside down and actuated it a bunch of times really hard and I guess the balls in there reseated themselves and now it works great again. I think the trick was having it upside down .
