Archived broken pipe on fuel tank

Ok, dropping the tank to change out a bad sending unit, bolts come off for straps, electrical connection comes undone fine, first fuel hose pops off fairly easy, second one breaks the cheap plastic pipe off right at the 90 degree turn. Any help with what my options are??

I don't know of any glue that will work with that stuff. You may be able to smooth the broken area as much as possible. Then drill and tap it to NPT. Depending on where the break is you may be able to use a short NPT nipple to join the broken parts. Other wise you have to buy the whole tank module. Not cheap.



If it's the return line you can use some hose to connect the line to the pipe with a cap on it. That is for a fuel feed from an auxillary tank. Then plug the broken module fitting with an NPT plug.

I got a CNC machined replacement to the OEM bushings on the fuel canister when I rebuild mine this summer. Then you can put in metal piping, fittings etc.



$ ~ 6x. 00 for 2 CNC parts and shipping.

Are the fittings on top of your '02 fuel tank module all plastic? His is a '94, no metal involved.

I have not actually looked first hand at the fittings at the top of the fuel cannister yet, but I am pretty sure they are plastic. CStewart makes them in CNC machined Aluminum so you can replumb the tubing with real metal fittings.

Ok, after further review, it is the return line that I broke, so I can put it back together for now until I get CStewarts machined parts. Two quick additional questions: 1) any adverse effects from using the previously unused nipple as my return line? and 2) for those that have used CStewarts parts, I will be replcaing the dual port supply and return plug with a single, and then replacing the (previously) unused one with a single, any help with how to plumb this all together to insure correct operation?

I return my return fuel to the tank filler vent line to help keep the VP44 cooler and keep the entire tank mixed better. Just a thought of what to do with the return line.

There is no problem using the "previously unused nipple" for the return line. I have been using the one on mine for fuel from my aux tank. I was using the vent pipe, but that caused a small foaming problem when the tank was almost full.
