Well... ... was retorqueing the head today and somehow managed to snap a stud. Was able to get the lower part out of the block. Was disgusted/depressed that I might have to pull the head again. Anyway the stud came out and I still have the bolts so I put one in for now. Is there anybody or anywhere that I can get one short 12mm stud? I really don't (can't) want to buy another full set. I am really starting to think I shouldn't do my own work anymore. Nothing but bad luck.

Thanks

Thomas

I know you don't want to hear this, but I would replace with ARP studs. I had a stud twist and break off (A-1), Trevor broke one on his motor (A-1) and now you. All were at 120 ftlbs. Sounds like a quality issue to me. Maybe there are some broken ARPs out there also. I haven't heard of any.

when ihad my haisleys 12mm they were torqued to 139-140 and no breaks. the 14's are a tat higher. was there enough lube used on the assembly?

Mine were properly lubed and so were Trevors. Some sets are fine, some aren't. Mine didn't work, and I know of 2 others who had the same problem so I recommend ARP. I don't sell either.
