My throttle rod broke this past weekend. The threaded adjustable section is what broke. I had enough adjustment on the ball socket ends to put the rod back together and make it home. Dodge tells me these rods are on national backorder! Has anyone else broken their rod?

I had the same thing happen to me. Went to the dealer and list is $82!!! I said screw that and went to Lambirth's in Knoxville, Ia. They have used parts for cheap$$ I think mine used was$30. Their # is 641. 943. 2551. Talk to Curt, he should be able to hook you up. Good luck.

Call a Cummins Distrib. with your CPL and Engine Serial No. A complete linkage should be less than 100 and the parts are available seperately.

I'm out of town and don't have my part no's with me for this sorry. :(

Good luck

Andy

Go to an industrial supply company who sells Bell Crank ends, chances are you will buy the whole set up for less than $40 with the good nylon wear inserts like on clutch linkages and the like. The ones I bought had the stud end already on, bought the fine thread rod and 2 jam nuts. Truck went down the road for another 200k that way until I sold it. PK

THREE!!!

I've had three break, everytime on the highway with the 5er in tow. When the first one broke I used a length of wire to connect the throttle and drove it 100 miles to the dealer (warranty). With the new one I installed I wrapped wire sort of figure 8 around the linkage and connected the two balls. When that linkage broke in Alamagordo I drove it all the way to Tucson before I had it repaired. I did the same thing with the wire and the third one broke during rush hour in Red Bluff, Ca. The wire allowed me to continue on to an RV park. The next day I drove to the Dealer (had to buy this one) and paid $37 for the one I have now. It is a 15 minute job to replce it and they wanted $75 in labor to do it for me. I think they are on back order because of the recall I haven't had done yet. Thought I'd wait to for this one to break first.

Throttle Rod

Mine broke and left me on the side of the road. However the parts only cost $29. XX at the Stealer. PN is 5011956-AB, I think this the first gen rods kits that will work. They even have the ball ends for that price. The correct rod cost about $16. 00. If I remember correctly. Maybe having a CRS [Can't Remeber Stuff] attack at this point. Now I carry a spare rod.

three times

mine broke three times ,all pulling . New rods are 35 dollars or so. The last time mine broke i put a piece of angle iron on the rod, clamped it down with 4 hose clamps. it has been on for 3 years. If it broke now you wouldnt know it .
