Dodge called me about the issues this truck has been having and told that there is nothing that they would do. So I traded it in last night on new truck and it hurt me to do this it was not for a Dodge.

The engine in the truck is outstanding but when the rest of the truck is falling apart around the engine it's time to part ways.

I will let you know if I made good or bad move on the new truck.

Like the rest of the people that buy the heavy duty trucks it has to perform most of the time and we do not need to worry about is going to break down on the next job.

Don

What ever your new truck is, be sure to send the people you dealt with at Dodge a picture of you in your new truck.

Not questioning your honesty, but what is your evidence of this? From what I have read, there are people with '10's still having front end problems.

Bigger brakes, bearings and axle u joints and of course the improved steering linkage

I work on them and SEE the diff ;)

Hi All,

Made it back to S. C. the new truck did real well on the return trip. The bed cover from my Dodge fits the new truck thats a postive.

Ok guys I know you may throw feel stones this way but the new truck is a Ford F350 SRW 4x4 with the 6. 7 engine and 6 speed trans.

Dodge called me yesterday and ask if there was anything else that they could do. I ask if they would help out the car rental when the truck when in for the front knukle replacement. The first answer was that my truck was out of warranty when I explained that the truck was still under the 100K and that was warranty work the second replay was that it was up to the dealer. So either way I went with Dodge the answer would be no. I call my dealer and told him what happen and he said he could believe Dodge did that.

I still think the engine is the best in the field but I think the new models have alot of teething issues with the rest of the truck. Dodge is going have to step up to the plate and owen up to some of the problems and make it right otherwise more customers will move on.

I don't blame you at all, I would've done the same thing. So this truck replaces your '10 dually? I look forward to hearing your experiences with the new truck. Good luck.

Apparently Dodge has been having some problems with u-jounts in later Gen III trucks. The rear joint on my 2 wd C&C failed at about 70k and I have read of others. I never replaced a u-joint on either of my previous Rams with high mileage. Dodge should review their supplier and contract for whoever is manufacturing these parts.

The U joint that went bad on me was the one closest to the trans I have always found that the center carrier back were the first to go. I just replaced them all along with the CC bearing and both oil seal Trans/rear didnt want to tear it all apart again for a stupid oil leak. Hope that the Fed Mog are better than OEM at least I can add grease

Just install a DynaTrac setup and forget about the front Ujoints, unit bearings and front driveshaft problems for the life of the truck.

Yes it does replace my 10 dually. The other issue that started again was the clutch and pressure plate needed to be replaced. Plus the tran's had some strange noises coming out of it.

What I found out with the first clutch replacement on the truck is that the fly wheel, clutch and pressure plate needs to be replaced as a set.

I think those new ford diesels area a real nice truck. good power and the truck is really comfortable. Now, here is the bad. I am a mechanic and the only reason I have driven the new ford is because they were being serviced for regular maintenance. I am reasonably young(30) and that being said I am trying to embrace the new technology rather than fight it. All I can do when working on the new stuff is shake my head and wonder who thought this stuff would really make 500K miles. It just is not gonna happen. Good luck with the new truck, as I hope it works out good for you.

I know some people that are class 8 truck mechanincs in talking to them the day of the Million Mile motor's are gone. That's a shame spend that kind of money for a truck and the motors are throw away

I think what you are stating may hold true for all of the trucks

Every time I'm over by the dealership I see these new trucks and wonder, "hmm, Rugged Brown or Red??" The more I read, the more I think I'll keep my '04. 135k miles and the only repairs were the lift pump at 70K and the center carrier bearing at 120K. Knock on wood.

I tow a 14k fifth wheel with this truck. Brakes pads made it 105K and the clutch, batteries, and all front end component are the originals.

The paint is fair (it got keyed years ago, and it looks a little rough there), and the upholstery is starting to wear out, but I'm thinking of having them reupholstered.

It does what I needed when I bought it, and it is still doing it today. Plus, it's paid for!

Not knocking the look of the new trucks. A friend bought a 2011 Megacab that sure is nice, but it cost nearly double what mine cost. And he doesn't get the mileage I get.

Not a poke, but simply a comment.

Update

I made it 3400 miles before the alert came on that I had only 800 more miles before the cow pee ran out.

I do not know if when I pick up the truck it had full tank or not.

I found the cow pee at $13 per 2 1/2 gallons. The other thing of interest is that you cannot store this stuff for very long and it requires being between 60-90 degrees.

The navigation system will stay on even if you turn off the radio.

Still getting 17 mpg city and 20 highway.

No issues to report with this truck as of to date.
