Dodge and adverising? ?

turbo scream

Last night the digital read -12 here. BRRRRR!

Just under 400,000 miles.

Original injectors...

15-40 Amsoil

Block heater unplugged all night.

First try, it started!

Covered the next door folks in smoke, but it started!!

How low can YOU go? How cold before your truck wont start?

I've been down to -20F without it plugged in. All I did was cycle the grid heaters twice and it started. Only sounded like 2 cylinders were firing, but it was enough to get it going. That was with 15-40W Dino.

you guys are crazy running 15w40 at those temps, even synthetic. THe amsoil 15w40 synthetic hdd/marine starts to lose out compared to 5w40's like delvac 1 under 10F. It really starts to thicken. I'd hate to see how much damage and cylinder scuffing you guys are getting running 15w40 dino at those negative temps. That's downright abuse IMO! =-]

Sometimes cold snaps sneek up on you. ;) Minnesota can go from above 40 degrees down to below zero in less than a week. Not much a guy can do.

I had a couple of cold starts at -20 to -25 in my '92 with plain old Delo 15w40 and the oil analysis report wasn't significantly different from the others.

The engine sounds like crap until it warms up a bit, but that's all.

Around -30 with 15/40 dyno. Not plugged in. Snuck up on me. Ill never do that again. Im actually gonna carry a firelog in my truck to warm the oil if it drops like that on me when im out snowmachining.

I run 5 40 synthetic now and the truck is much happier. I highly recommend it in sub zero temps.
