My drivers seat bottom has squeezed down again after doing the carpet between the seat springs amd foam trick. It worked for awhile.

Has anyone solved this problem... ... ... . new seat bottom???

more carpet under foam??? help, I need some suggestions short of replacing the whole seat assembly  .

Thx.

I cut a piece of 3/16" thick Lexan & put it in the bottom of the seat frame to support the foam- it's held for the last 5 or 6 years.

Lexan sounds like a good idea to me.

With these newer trucks there is not much you can do short of replacing the seat bottom or getting a foam company to mold you a new one. Getting a seat bottom unless off a super low mile truck (rare now) or one sitting in the box on a shelf somewhere (rare), you most likely will need to settle with another used assembly. But you run into the same problem. I lucked out on ebay and found a whole brand new seat bottom in the box for 120 shipped a few months back. I had my seat repaired so next time (10 more years) i will have a brand new seat waiting... Nothing like those old car seat springs that pretty much last forever... I would like to look into a foam company that makes molds, that would be sweeet... BTW- dodge does not have seat bottoms anymore, they were 900 bucks each last time i checked lol

Do I need to keep my truck locked now? I would hate to come out and find I now have a 170K mile tan seat in my truck :D

I found out that although the molding is different, the frame is the same on the passenger and driver's side seat bottom. I swapped them out in about 30 min. The molding or cutouts for the seat belts don't exactly match up but you'd never know it unless you looked for it. Only problem is that the passenger's side is now a little more uncomfortable. :)

PS I haven't done a sig yet, mine's a '01 Quad Cab

Irebuilt mine I used the springs and flat metal straps that they used in the old beds the straps are about 1" wide and they don't kick out or cut through the carpet that I put on the bottom also the stiffer springs that I used made the seat a little stiffer for us big kids at 240 lbs. and up. Got the bed parts at a flea market for 2 bucks.

So JR2... ... ... ... ... . how are you going to like a squashed tan seat in your green truck??? :-laf

I suppose the seat bottoms in the 03 models are different from the 2nd gen. is that correct????

Bob,

Those 300C seats have a mind of their own. They are supposed to remember the settings for 2 people which is determined by the key used. Well... ... the other day I got in the car after the wife used it, inserted my key and the seat went all the way forward and stuck me up against the steering wheel. Had a hell of a time getting loose.

But... ... ... the car is a real screamer :D

Jack,

Babette's Touareg does the same thing. !!!

Ican't get to the seat switch fast enough to save myself. I need to pay more attention to which key I grab!!

You need to sit in my truck seats, as I installed air rides a few months ago! They are nice, especially on a long trip!!
