I currently have a stock bench with 348,000mi of wear and tear. :{

I am looking for some stock buckets in good shape or if anyone knows of any other seats that fit. Keep in mind I have a reg cab and I'm 6'4" so I can't use any big seats, need a thin back. I've sat in a 1st gen with 2nd gen seats and didnt like it at all. Any thoughts?

They're not stock, but One thought: Semi Truck Cab Seats + Suspension Truck Seats | Seats | Northern Tool + Equipment I'm afraid I might get a headached, though, between the way I drive and the air ride, without limiting the travel some... . I'm a little taller than you... .

another thought: I've seen these in person, and they appear very well made. I traded for a '95 that had a set in it, and was going to modify them for the '93, but cash talks, so they went with another trade down the line..... I don't know if they have the brackets for the 89-93, but I bet they can make them. Pickup & Medium Duty

And lastly: I've seen these pretty regular, I forget who it is that makes them. The foam seems to deteriorate quicker than a factory set. My dad had a set in his '91 he bought new, and they started to bottom out with my big *ss in it. Got uncomfortable after a few hours. It may have just been time to have them rebuilt. But my '89 and '90 models, these seats made several 100k before they started to come apart. They were used before I got 'em, but held up several years in both trucks. These guys at least list a mounting bracket for the '89-93!! Truck Seats Custom Chevy Ford Dodge GMC Truck Seats 40-20-40 (I kinda like the Knight Rider LT models... just me)

Well, let me help ya. I fully get it. I am 6'2" so I have an idea what you have.

I tried 3rd gen buckets. Without a sunroof that does not work.

Tried 1st gen buckets. OK but like the 3rd gen, you loose too much space as they are thick in the backlean.

Not tried 2nd gen.

Have tried 1ste gen bench and LOVE that. Why? I put a 3" spacer block under the bench rails and lifted it! Now it lets me sit further from the pedal, and feel comfortable.

This will not work if you are long torso. I am all leg. My passengers dont like the ride when they hit roof though! :-laf

... . As hard headed as I am, I don't think it would be very healthy for your roof if I hit it!!:-laf

If you block it like that, is there a problem when the seat comes up to the bottom of the window? I know the seat usually sits under the window a little..... kinda off, but I blocked my first '90 in the front and redrilled the holes in the rails, extending the from rail 3", but it was a club cab, so no dice here. I'm not sure 3" would work for me... . I'm kinda tight on both ends with the factory seats... . 's why I just sold my '91.

Thats why I did 3" and not 2". The seat is over the recess, you are correct on that. But the seat now sits over the bulge and heads toward the window. Its is the same distance back, just higher now.

... good to know. I've got a set of SeatCo. seats I'm gonna try in my '93 when I get time. I traded 'em for a set of 2nd gens I had that were tan/camel color, so we'll see how it goes in. The truck they came out of had been wrecked, and I wouldn't have wanted to have been in it!! The seats are bowed from were the cab bowed and bent the tubing upwards!! Ouch!!

I've just about given up on a regular cab. I've got one '01 left, and it's gonna become my new toy as soon as I get the time (which means in the next 10 years... :( ) I'm too much of a packrat to get by with a regular cab... unless I pull a trailer everywhere I go!!
