What do you guys have for bases in your trucks?

I put in my Ramcharger buckets today, with the RC bases. Regular cab. The seat sat so far forward, with the back on the window, that my legs hit the wheel, so I put a 2" shim under the rear. Now, the seat is slid all the way back, and the rear is 1 notch back from vertical. I am higher than I was with the bench, but still feel cramped on the wheel. Are buckets a no-no in a regular cab?

Thanks,

I've got Caravan buckets in mine and it's tight. They're much more comfortable than the bench, but the fact that they have reclining backs and that the backs are thicker than the bench, makes them a close fit. I'm 6'2", the buckets do sit higher than the bench and I just do have enough room. I would not swap them back for the bench because I can recline the back some and still fit which makes them a much better seat for comfort.

I second the tilt wheel. My 350 is the only vehicle I have without a tilt wheel and it would certainly benefit from one. Can't see the speedometer from about 40mph up because of the wheel.

I was just at the U-Pull-It the other day! You guys gotta tell me this stuff before I go! :-laf

On another note, I found a delay wiper switch, but didn't grab it because I wasn't sure what else was different.

Pete if you get a tilt column it will have delay wipers and cruise on it.

The LE models were the only ones with tilt. Delay wipers and cruise was part of that package.

I'm not sure the LEs were the only ones with tilt. ALL of my 91-93s have had tilt (and interval wipers), and not all of them were LEs. A couple had vinyl floors, cranky windows, etc. I think my latest 93 didnt even have a head liner, but that could have been removed by the previous owner.

Pete, I had some 94 seats in my blue 91. Except for the driver's seat being slightly twisted, they were more comforatble than the bench, but not up to the captain's chairs. If you want leg room, you'll have to get an extended cab, or a McKinley conversion. Give me those crappy RC seats ;)

DP, if you like red, I can get you a set of RC seats. There is a set in the "yard". I stole bases from them. ;)

The seats in my '95 suck! Well, they're better than the bench.

Philip, I was looking in the FSM, the wiring looks waaayyy different for cruise and delay. I was going to look at my harness under the dash when it quits raining.

Pete,

If one or the other is in good shape, get me a price. I have grey seat covers, so the color of the seats isnt an issue.

1 or the other? Which one? #@$%! They do have armrests on them you know, it makes them directional. L or R side?

The price list says $15 for the seat, $8 for the base, plus core. I found it depends on the counter guy if they stick to the price list. (usually a few bucks more)

The armrests are removable. I can also drill and tap the other side if needed, so it really doesnt matter to the guy willing to do some fabricating and modifying. Get whichever one is in better shape, probably the passenger side (good padding; seat frame is straight). My driver's is about shot, but the passenger is nearly new looking and feeling.

OK, I'll most likely do it this week. In the 2 weeks since my last visit, 3 trucks disappeared. And the fuel tank and sender from the RC.
