got a problem with the pulling company i pull with we can block our rearends so i built some blocks and now i have a major bucking problem ?'s how much of a block do i need , why is it now bucking where it didnt before with out the blocks and has anyone else had this problem thanks is advance cahammer

I ran blocks on my trucks with no traction bars with more power than you and never bounced,But I always had my helper springs clamped to my main spring pack so I didnt get no spring rap. Do you have 1 1/2" gap so your putting some spring tension to keep out the rap?If you are blocking so there is no travel at all then you most likely are not putting enough load on your springs to keep the rap out ----in this case Tomac would be correct in saying you need traction bars. Of course traction bars would not hurt in any case.

tires are street tread it is a full block i have to jack it up about and inch or 2 to get the blocks in no traction bars yet don't know what set up to use just yet DRadzierez i didn't think about spring rap so sould i cut them down and see if that helps thanks for the replies

You should most likely cut them down or put u bolts clamping your helpers to your main springs or run traction bars. It sounds like your spring are rapping up. It seems to me you are just not putting enough load on your springs to keep them from bounceing.

we are running a stupid amount of 50 psi in the rears and yes i know it would help letting a lot of air out of the tires but we have to drive it too the pulls and it ain't a trailer queen... ... yet but i hope to have some ricksons with the g-124 soon they just need to send them out to me what length are you guys running on the traction bars?

I run full psi in my rears with blocks and no issues.

I have seen several people around these parts that hop due to poor driving/launch skills. People blame their setup and trucks all the time but alot of the time they need to look in the mirror but the truth hurts too much.

(not saying you have poor driving skills, just my experience)

jwilliams3 i looked in the mirror and saw one sexy beast :-laf this problem only started after i blocked it before i never ran blocks and did great but i do agree the launch is a critical part of the pull

Justin, he has a 98, your truck being newer is probably a different beast. At least I'd think that they changed a few things on the rear suspension since back then. Sounds like axle wrap to me, get some traction bars, they should clear it up.

You probably have what a 4wd tractor gets when the weight balance is off (power hop) If you add ladder bars and find a way to get more weight on the front the hopping will go away. I know from personal experience that if you put blocks in a truck that can't blow the tires off out of the hole and doesn't have a lot of weight on the front it will tend to be bouncy going down the track due to the weight transfer that the blocks are now causing. without the blocks the rear squats and doesn't unload the front axle so both axles pull together... . add blocks... rear axle now gets a bunch of weight from the sled plus the front and bites really hard the front loses traction and creates uneven pull from front to back.

p. s. we run 80-90 psi in the rear on 35 12. 50 16 to keep them stiff and keep the hitch up. But never exceed the max pressure for the tire ;)

I know they all can hop and a lot has to do with the driver, I just meant that it isn't only the driver's fault and a 3rd gen probably pulls different than a 2nd gen. A lot is in set-up, just ask sleddy, it's not all just about hp.

thanks for the info dps it realy only is in the rear but then every thing gets bouncing i try backing out and then getting back in it and no dice we only have a max weight limit of 8k lbs witch sucks cause i am about 360 and with me and as little as possible diesel in the tank and 2 or 3 big jd weights mounted up front i am pushing the limit my truck is a daily driver so i love the a/c and heat been thinking about loseing the rear seat and maybe a battery the wife goes with me so we need to keep at least a 5 gallon bucket in the front for her thanks for the responses and no harm no fowl ya'll

Do people actually pull the a/c and heater components to sled pull? I've pulled with the a/c on many times! :D

I run SuperSprings on the rear and blocks. I seem to only bounce when I get a bad launch. Luckily I've only done that once this year. ;)
