I was having those problems with my engine as the temps got colder. The only thing I changed to the engine was changing the TTPM setting from 3psi to 20psi fueling. Went on a trip and it bucked pretty bad. Filled up with 45 cetane fuel and the bucking seemed to go away. I then changed two things and the bucking is gone. I changed the TTPM setting back to 3psi fueling( I don't think this was a factor) and I started using Howes diesel treat in every tank. I really think it is the fuel quality combined with the colder temps that is causing the bucking. Maybe some other members can experiment with the fuel conditioner and see what happens. It would be nice if it was this simple.

Tom,

I purchased the Howes at shrewsbury Pa. They seemed to be the cheapest I could find. Any truck stop should carry the Howes. I know Perryville MD has it and I'm sure the Baltimore Travel plaza would have it. Your best bet would be Shrewsbury (45 min from exit 83 I-70) unless you're driving right past a truckstop. My truck hasn't bucked for approx 2K miles so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I have been ussing Howes for the last 20k in my truck and havent noticed any change in the engine bucking problem. Just returned from ND yesterday, about 2k round trip, engine bucks in the 1400 to 1900 rpm range. Mileage was good at 19 for the trip. I still think this is some kind of an electrical problem. Just my two cents.
