Here we go... . just rolled over 143,000. I have changed fuel filter, (Cummins) Lift pump, new IAT, reset APPS as per manual directions, still drives and accels fine, then feels like it stalled when cruising. Idles just fine, except the other morning would not rev up higher than 1500 RPMs, bunch of light blue smoke and pedal was to the metal. Let it idle for a few, then it was OK.

Removed the EZ first, then diconnected the PE. No difference.

I am stationary for another week with the RV but gotta get this right. Worried about trying to pull out into traffic as you never know when it will act up and you have to do a dance on the "go" pedal.

Not sure on the 98's.......

Does it have the digital odometer? On mine, 2001, you can key on and off three times quickly and it will display the fault codes. That way we can look them up for you and zero in on the problem.

Just a wild guess but could it be a malfunction with the Pac Brake?

If your stationary somewhere maybe a member close to you has the computer software or equivalent that could connect to your truck to see if anything shows up. I personally use Alex Pepers (obd-2.com) and save files regularly so I can trace readings back before any problems.

Hey guys,

No, I don't think it's anything to do with the PacBrake as it's wired to a seperate switch.

I don't beleive that you can get codes off the 98. 5 with the ignition switch as I have tried several different methods.

I am really leaning towards the APPS (TPS) problem. I have checked all of my connections on ECM, PCM and APPS. Everything seems fine and greased.

I am going to put a call in to the local dealer here, they are pretty decent to deal with and have them read the code for me and then I can go from there.
