Bucking / Shuddering Truck
Howdy,
I just got back from Gatlinburg Tenn. and had an excellent time.
Help Needed.
While pulling my Horse trailer, only 7000#'s loaded, I blew an inter- cooler conection hose, of course it was Storming. I was forced to travel about 5 miles on flat ground to a safe repair place at a rest area. It was the Hose just below the Turbo, no problem, cleaned it up re-installed and off we go, then I developed a Buck while going up hills, with the cruise control on or off at 70 MPH. All Turbo conections are tight with out damage and it will Boost to 36 Pounds right quick.
At 70 MPH with Over Drive engaged the Truck seems to Buck forwards as the boost rises to 21 PSI thru 32 PSI. I thought it my be my EZ Fueling & De-fueling, so I stopped and change the EZ from level 3 to level 2 and then to level 1. The bucking stopped for awhile and after about 30 minutes it came back as bad or worse.
It does not Buck on flat ground only on the up hill pulls when the boost hits 21 PSI and higher
It does not Buck with the Over Drive off at any Boost PSI.
To make matters even worse I lost the little cover for the EZ, it fell in to a black hole in the fender well and ain't been seen sense. Darn Gremlins.
After making it home and dropping the trailer, it went out for a test ride, with the EZ back on level # 3 it doesnt buck but I can feel a slight vibration pulling hills with OD engaged .
Ive never experinced a Torque Converter shudder
or over drive slipping and not sure what to look for.
The trans oil is clean and full with less than 5000 miles on the change.
Using Mopar ATF plus 3 and Mopar filter
Trans temps never went over 145 degrees in the Mag Hytec Deep pan on the entire trip
Lift pump presures are 15 # at Idle 12 #'s across the filter
EGT's are 850 to 1050 degrees on long up hill pulls and about 800 on flat ground.
I'm going to change fuel filter in the morning.
Thanks , TJ
