I am thinking of getting a front bumper for my 06 I like the buckstop but with out the bullbar. I think buckstop makes the best looking bumper for 06 trucks what do you all think? #ad

I have the same bumper for my 04. Excellent bumper..... but the powder coat chips easily. That is the only downside I see. I can post a pic of what 30k miles does to one of these... . a dozen or so rust spots.

Other then that they are excellent. An Audi tried to cut in front of me from the shoulder and I side-swipped him from drivers door to rear quarter as he spun around in front of me. Did a boat load of damage to his Audi... . just put a few scratches on the front right of my bumper!!! These things are made of what looks like 1/4" thick steel... extremely strong compared to the Aluminum foil the stock bumpers are made from.

I opted for the hitch up front which makes backing up my box trailer, boat or whatever very easy (my driveway upstate is over 800 feet long thru woods and you can't turn around with a trailer once u get to the house).

For the 6" lights I purchased some plexyglass from McMaster and made a a cover/shield to protect the lights from rocks and debri. I mounted this before mounting the light cans.

Again. . if you guys want a pic I'll go out and take one.

Would I buy this bumper again/for my next truck? Hell YEA!!! Oo. Just wish something could be done about the chips. :(

They have a option not to purchase the bull bar, about 150 off as I recall. It just bolts on, so you could take it off if you wanted also.

Yep..... only problem is you'll have 4 holes (about 3/4" dia) on the bumper. I guess you could pop in stopper or something.

I personally like the bar. It protects the grill and lights from a deer head (if you'd really hit one). JMO.

Oh... for installation I'd suggest 2 or 3 of your closest friends, a 30 pack and about 3 or 4 hours. I borrowed a 512 lift from work which made it easy by myself. Just bolts on..... the weight is what kills ya (I think about 350 lbs). Once on with the bolts in place you could probably use a jack with 2x4 to lift the bumper for final adjustments.

they also have another version that uses different uprights, but the guard is not removable on that one. it is also $500 more.

We set mine on a couple of jack stands and maneuvered it around with the floor jack. Worked for me.

I have had my Buckstop Bumper mounted for over a year and no rust or missing paint so far. Michigan uses alot of salt in the winter. If it does well here it will do well anywhere.

Don't forget to order new fog lights as your oval oem lights will not fit the cans that are built into the bumper.

You might want to check out www.roadarmor.com I think they make the best bumper, you through the nose to buy one though. Their Stealth series bumper with the Titan II guard is wicked. They make a realy nice rear bumper as well.

Its tuff to see but those brown spots are rust spots/chips from road debris. I used to drive the GSP and NJ Turnpike everyday so road debris was common. I don't see myself as a tailgater so this is probably the wear & tear one would see if you live near or commute into the city/traffic. If you live in the country and NEVER or seldom drive behind someone then this probably isn't an issue for you.

You can also see the rust from the powder coat broken away from using the front hitch receiver.

The next pic is of the plexiglass I fabricated to protect my lights. I sandwiched it between the light can and the inside of the bumper. The light can bolts from behind so cutting out a plexiglass in the a slighter larger shape then the can with 3 mounting holes was pretty straight forward. It works well at protecting the lights from rocks, etc.

And the stock fog lights do NOT fit the fog holes. The hole size is about right... but the lights are not perfectly round. I tried to fabricate a mount for them but it seemed more trouble then they are worth. I'm looking for a smaller light that will bolt right in as Buckstop does include a small tab for mounting a light... just can't find one that will work.

Mine is in my gallery. I got mine raw and painted it.

I haven't killed anything with it yet.

I ordered my Buckstop without the grill guard as pictured on their website. When it arrived, it had the holes on the top for the grill guard. After several e-mails the best they would do is send me some plugs for the holes. They said I could have had the holes filled if I had ordered it that way. I didn't ask for the holes and didn't get the grill guard so they should not have been there to begin with. If it was a listed option, I would have paid extra for them to NOT drill the holes during production. ( that shouldn't be that difficult) I agree on the powder coat flaking off easy. I had the block heater plug sticking out one of the fog light holes this winter and it rubbed the powder coat off and it flakes very easy all around it. Definately not as tough as I thought it would be. Another thing to keep in mind is the front receiver is not welded in as shown in their pictures. It is a bolt on hitch. If you should need any parts, I hope you are real patient. :(

If you have any questions, ask before you order, cause once you receive the hitch it's yours. Even if it's not exactly what you ordered.

Good luck.
