While running a hotshot through the boreal forest with my new Buckstop in place I encountered a suicidal Whitetail. To my horror instinct took over & I hit the brake.

I am so not worthy of my buckstop

You did the right thing. You never know what can happen.

At 4:00 am on I-44 near Tulsa one morning I came upon a down and probably dead buck. I didn't see him until the last minute due to crummy stock headlights! I had no time to manuever and so tried to straddle him. Well, if he wasn't dead before I "straddled" him, he sure was afterwards because as I went over him the truck "dribbled" him against the pavement. Took out one of my running boards and bent some other things and got blood and brains all over the bottom of my truck.

It is always better to avoid a collision if possible.

Don't worry, for I did the same. The day after I got mine in place, coming home from a friends house Christmas night, dad WAS asleep in the back seat and mom dozing in the front, when I came over a hill to find a young doe in the headlights. I too, hit the brakes, and missed a collision. Would have been the only venison I grilled for the season. I just couldn't do it.

Yes, always better to avoid a poss. collision. Don't forget that deer can jump also, and very high. Deer can go right through the windshield and kill a person, and they have.

Buckstop

Ok ok , I know some of you will get a good chuckle from this, but. What is a Buckstop? Other than a 270 or a 30-06...

I live in an area where there are allmost as many whitetails as gophers and we have too darn many gophers. Only thing is you can run over gophers without wrinkling your truck. Last deer I hit the body shop charge was $1400 & no rad or cooler damage. Did not buy the Buckstop to make the truck look pretty I average a little better than 1 deer per year, & alot of close calls. Plan to keep the truck for 4 years. The math makes sense to me.

Exactly, $1400 is cheap compared to the cost of one good collision with a deer, or another car for that matter. I think its a rarity not the norm to not have radiator or intercooler damage and thats a bill I wouldnt want to pay. That stock bumper is GARBAGE.

I also got a buckstop and had it painted white to match my sport, still havent taken any pictures of it yet to put in my reader's rigs album.

I like the look of the Buckstops but the lack of guts screen made me go with Ranch Hand. (I would hate to pay that much and still have something do damage up front) Hopefully, if the day ever happens that I smack a deer, all I will need is some quarters for the hose-off car wash.

Question for you guys that have it... .

I know when i had my huge lifted truck my lawyer told me that if i hit anyone i should expect to get my @** in a big lawsuit. I would thing that with a monsterous bumper in the front like the ones ive seen so far you could get in some troubles with lawsuits if you hit anyone ?

I like how the Road Armors look. . But i dont want soo much weight in the front... And the cost is alot also

I figure that I am not going to have an accident that is my fault & if anyone is stupid enough to pull out in front of me then that is their problem.

Knock on wood that it wont be my fault either, but as I see it whatever I hit is going to get serious damage anyway. I dont think the buckstop will cause alot more damage, as even with the stock bumper the rest of the truck is behind it. I see it as protecting MY truck from BEING damaged in a collision.

My dad was laid up in the hospital for some surgery a few years back and the guy next to him had been in a deer/car collision in which the deer had jumped and came through the windshield. The guy had some antlers get into his chest and one of the deers hoofs hit him in the eye and scratched the lens of his eye pretty bad. Get this though------- he said his son was sleeping in the back seat and slept through the whole thing!! Woke up with glass and deer gore all over him!
