Well, apparently Valvoline is going to turn this into their insurance. The Valvoline rep said that from here on out their insurance would contact him direct, but to expect some depreciation since the motor had 200,000 miles on it :-{} He is talking damages since he had to put customers off and all that jazz, but I told him he'd probably only he able to get incurred costs ie. hotel, boarding for horses, payment of co-driver etc. Either way, he'll have a truck with 200,000 miles on it and a motor with 0 miles on it.

I guess they ordered a long block for $10,600, not the short block I originally thought it was. Total estimiate is $12,1xx. xx something something.

He had thought about renting a truck to run to Alaska and back while they worked on his truck, but they wanted $3,500. 00 to do that, so he dicided to wait it out ... ... ... he said there is NOTHING to do in that little peehole town and he's board stiff :-laf

Owner may get hit hard with the mileage on his truck. Surprised insurance didn't suggest or supply a low mileage used engine. If they(insurance)get picky and say the life of a NEW is 350k as published by Cummins owner might get hit hard on his end. Some take out motors were sold for what? 5 to 6k complete?

Engine Loss

This is a bad break for sure. I only trust myself to do the maintance on both my CTD's. Use only Fleetgaurd Filters and Shell Rotella Oil from the start. I have not had any problems yet to this date. I buy all my filters from Geno's. These people has always treated me good. Sorry again for your loss-It seems like this Lube Shop would have to put a new engine in your truck. It was their fault-they put that filter on the truck.

BHerndon----Owner of 90 1 ton duelly and 99 1 ton duelly all still stock at this time.

If half you guys used a Cummins like it's suppossed to be, I'd kiss yer ***!

I've got over 200,000 miles towing on an '03, you?

138k on mine as of now, 6 speed coming out first thing in the AM then getting hotshotted up to SLC to see whats wrong with this one. Hopefully be back together by Friday... . container yards are calling my name!!

I'm glad for him to get a NEW motor. I just know insurance and how it works on the repair end. If his truck had less then 20k or what not proberly no issue. But with 200k or far less their(insurance) obligation is to restore vehicle to said condition before event. Maybe they(insurance) won't bring up that issue but they sure did for the 25years I handled flooded, stolen, water and sugared fuel tanks, oil drain plugs that fell out etc. I've had customers assume NEW motor, tell us to order one and THEN get insurance involved who said WOH Nellie. HE(owner)can use that NEW motor BUT it's gonna cost him XXXXX cause his OLD motor had 75k on it and WE have found THREE with UNDER that mileage for XXX dollars etc. that won't cost OWNER a cent for us to supply or pay for etc.
