my buddy is stuck i a county road comision garage because his truck is down. it is a 98 24 valve and he had been driving it for about an hour before it acted like it ran out of fuel an died. he said both electric lift pump and I pump are working. but i dont know what the fuel pressure sould be. any help would be great he would appreciate it.

Had the same problem with my TDI about a month ago: ULSD suffers from wax crystal drop out and clogs up the works. When ULSD gets cold soaked, you need to warm it to 50-60 degrees to get the wax back into solution. ULSD also can hold a great deal of water in solution; that can drop out as ice crystals and further muck up the fuel. PS Diesel 911 works pretty good, follow the instructions on the label.

Fuel pressure on 24 valve should be 14-16 psi at idle. I have read it can be a low as 5 psi a at wot but I wouldn't go that low if it is under 8 psi at idle I would replace lift pump.

He mite have to change the fuel filter.

thanks hey what exactly is ULSD. i will mention the filter and the Diesel additive, i use it and never have any probs.

ULSD = Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel,

I believe it requires less than 5 parts per million (maybe 50) of sulfur in the fuel where the LSD was 500 PPM.

hey thanks for all the help. i guess it turned out to be a cam sensor, my buddy said thanks and i reffered him the TDR.
