Hi all:

Sister got me a Bug Deflector for Christmas (actually I get to pick it out) and dont know where and what to shop for and what looks good. What brand and where did you buy yours? Any pics would be greatly appreciated too!

Ventvisor bugflector

I've used the three piece Bugflector stick-on style on three different vehicles and couldn't be happier. They go on in 10 minutes, work as advertised, and stand up to all the automatic car washes I've been through so far. That's more than I can say for the factory radio antenna! Cost about $50.

I've got the Mopar 3 piece. It doesn't do a very good job of deflecting bugs. My windshield still gets creamed. I think you need a bugdeflector that curves over hood and then turns up the last half inch or so. I think they are much more effective. All mine does is protect the front hood paint.

I had the mopar one on my 96 and about all it did was catch rocks didn't do much for the bugs. The 2001 I picked up one made by truck logic. It works much better for bugs but still lacks in that area. I have thought that with the design of these newer ones that only go up short ways that they just don't provide enough lift to send those bugs up and over the cab. Course the old ones that sat straight up for 4 inches worked fairly well but probably cost a mile a gallon in aerodynamic drag. Bugs wash off rock chips don't so now I look at them as paint protectors.

I used a Lund till I noticed the paint damage it caused to the edge of my hood. It was also difficult to clean from behind it. As the others have said, " bugs still hit the windshield" and I didn't think the few bugs it deflected was worth the paint damage.

I have the three piece Mopar, like it a lot. I watched once while another person was driving and the sun was at just the right angle along the Big Hole River, 24" trout need lots of big bugs. Bugs coming straight towards the windshield shot straight up a couple feet behind the shield and missed the windshield. The ones that hit the windshield seemed to be ones that normally would have hit the grill. None work 100% but help quite a bit. I just wish I would have put mine on sooner before rocks started ruining the top of the grill and hood edge.

illflem, Looks like yours flip up. Hard to tell by the picture. I think that would make a difference. Otherwise, I have exactly what you have, but they are worthless for bugs on the windshield. Still protects the hood edge which makes them worthwhile.

No holes to drill. I also, like Adam, have had this same set up on 3 different Dodge trucks. At highway speeds they through the bugs right above the glass line. Photo 1 , Photo 2.
