Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) build a 24 valve to install in my 1976 f 250 4x4

I would like to ask a couple questions on what direction to go with my 24 valve. The truck will be my daily driver but i would like plenty of power to play with. I was also wondering if anybody has converted a divorced system transfer case truck to a dodge auto. I have a nv4500 in the truck now behind the gas engine but i would like to go auto this time around. I am trying to find out if i can use a two wheel drive 47rh or 47re if it will fit or if i need to convert to the dodge t case also and just use the dodge 4 wheel drive trans .
