Looking at new trucks, how do you tell the build date?

Look for a sticker on the drivers side door jamb. That's where I found it on my '97. As long as they haven't changed locations, it should be there.



Also, if you can decode the VIN, it will at least tell you the year.

Truck build date should be on the driver door sticker. The Cummins build date is on the valve cover sticker, drivers side.

If you're looking at window stickers, the build date is the 4-digit number (MMDD) at the top right of the barcode at the bottom of the sticker.
