What engine do you have making 2000 hp? And what RPM does it make that kind of torque?

Just curious, I like all kinds of racing, and I like to compare our Diesel's numbers to other engines.

Things to ponder

Gary, if you go the gasser truck route, something to consider.

If you are going to make this racer(does it have a name yet?) barely street legal, don't forget the bi- annual smog inspection.

What you can do is buy a totaled diesel truck(2500/3500) that is currently licensed and use the title for the racer. Since a diesel is still exempt from inspections, no hassles with smog every two years. It's pretty easy to switch all the ID plates /license plates on to the racer from the wreck. If you could find a rollover or rear ender, you would also have a engine and transmission for the project.

P. S. I have never done this switcheroo with a retired off road race car(Baja bug) but I heard it works.

well lets see where to sart first off a 359 ci cummins can be made to make some serious horsepower 1000 to 1300 hp it will need to turn 5000 to 6000 rpm the higher the better. Next it will need to have water injection, a P Pump high flowing heads most likely at least two turbo's maybe three depending on needs either a slipper clutch or some special auto that would allow you to build boost on the line very intense undertaking but fun none the less

never thought of the emission part of the deal , my vote would go for a half ton shortbox , dodge doesn't make a shortbox reg cab 2500 so if you want one you'll have to make it yourself . thats my thought .



as far as engine goes , 24 wit ha ported head , see if you can get a cam from DD , definately a P pump , it will be easier to get running in something NON diesel as a base and cheaply make more power , though its nice to be able to flip on a switch for a hun horse or so .

My concern is the weight factor, I do not know if we can get this deal to around 4000 lbs.



Caged, Ford rear?, glass front end, ???????? 4000 lbs?????



Wonder what a bed weights? Custom aluminum bed???



I did locate a 95 DDiesel for 9K. shortbed.

Gary, The off road trucks use a fiberglass bed side that look stock. There is no floor, they just skin the inside with light alum to keep the tires from throwing debris everywhere. You can probably find fiberglass front fenders but they probably not that much lighter than stock. You just might need the weight of the stock bed for traction anyway.

MGM: Motor is a 632cid Chevy on Alcohol and lots of Nitrous. Approx 1000hp worth of N2O, and the motor makes about 1050-1100. Torque is at 6500, run the motor to 7500 on a regular basis.



Gary C: The weight of the fiberglass bedsides will definitly be less then stock, and can be had fairly cheap. Check with Creative Glass. As soon as I find their web site or phone #, I'll post it.

Ram4Sam / Gary C: If a 4 link rear suspension is to be used, which was mentioned earlier in this thread, the rear weight is not a concern, as the 4 link can be made to work with almost any combination, and removing weight from the total package will simply make the truck faster!
