I have been looking to put an aftermarket hood on my 2nd gen truck but I haven't seen any I really like the look of as much as the stock RT/10 hood for the 3rd gen. I can't find an aftermarket one that resembles it other than a fiberglass one that is kinda, somewhat, not really close. I don't want a glass hood for sure.

I'm thinking about buying a 3rd gen RT/10 hood and cutting out the center section to graft it into a 2nd gen hood. I don't think it will be difficult and I think it would look WAY cool.

What do you think?

This is where I'd buy the new hood. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...&rd=1&item=7937628279&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT

And anyone that is willing to give up their stock hood that maybe replaced it with an aftermarket one would be greatly appreciated. I plan to take my time on this project and can't be driving around all "hoodless" while I'm working on it. :p

Shipping is gonna kill you (truck, well over $100). You can possibly find it at a local dealer with the insert for around that price. I don't know how easily you can match the contours and use the middle of it, but you will likely irretrievably modify both hoods trying it, so I hope it works.

It is a nice idea, but you will probably save money and effort in the long run surfing for something aftermarket, like reflexxions, justhoods. com or some such supplier. Definitely work with a body shop that is realy good for advice before spending a lot of loot.

Hope this helps. you have a nice idea and I hope you can get what you want.
