Hey I am new to TDR and have some questions that I hope someone can help me. I am building a 12 Valve engine from the block up and need some help and suggestions of parts and methods to build my dream truck my budget is around $10000 and the truck will be a spare daily driver/ play truck for the street I am hoping to make around 800HP within my budget

Some of my ideas are Head Studs, Fluidampr, ATS 3-Piece manifold, Afe intake, FASS 180 GPH System, Banks Twin Ram Intake, BD INTERCOOLER, Stage 3 Water / Meth. I was going to have the injection pump remand with 191 delivery valves and 4k GOV springs. I was also going to have my nv4500 remand and install the update nut and HD input shaft with the South Bend double disk clutch. Have the crank, rods balanced, magnafluxed. I have some ideas about most of the bolt-ons. I need some suggestions for within the block like a cam, cam with bolt on gear? pistons, fly cut? Ceramic coated tops and bottoms, and silicone skirts. Fire ringing, Valve springs, valves turbo, hydraulic lifters, pushrods. From what I can see the block looks in great condition with all six cylinders having their original crosshatch with no lip in the cylinders just some carbon all the bearings looked like normal ware for having 300000 miles.

Please let me know what you think any suggestions will be appreciated

Have a happy new year

Thanks

Matt

I can't tell where ya are located, but you should get in touch with one of the top diesel shops like haisley, schied, piers, industrial injection, ect. They can give you some good tips on what they can do for ya that will be in your budget. You might want a block girdle and main studs . Since it'll all be apart and you got some decent coin, may as well go with a radical cam(with bolt on gear) and flycut the pistons. I don't know much about piston coatings but i'm sure they'll help. Definitely fire ring or o-ring. If you want to truck pull and hit higher rpms(over 4000), you should consider valvetrain improvements(springs, retainers, keepers). Hope this helps.

Edit above (Piers... ... Home) 800 hp is not really that hard with a 12V, you can do it on that budget! You can do 800 easy without any crazy valvetrain stuff other than 60 lb springs unless you are going to turn it over 4K very much!

I wouldn't call any BIG shops... . they do good work but any of the big shops can really chew through 10K dollars and not even be done with the block.

there is a shop up near your way that deals with 12V's all the time called Woodruff diesel. they do have a website that is pretty helpfull.

Personally I have had good luck buying my hard parts through Welcome to Farmboys Diesel

Ya know thats true. The big shops got there start being little shops. Was figureing that the bigger shops might have more options and tips with block internals, but thats not to say that a smaller shop doesn't. Also its nice to support the local guys.
