Can anyone tell me how long would it take to install a pac exhaust brake on my 2001 w/ auto transmission. I was looking at the instructions and it seems doable . But I do not know if I would need an assistant at some time or not as I live alone.
Also page 8 says to shut off the overdrive to the transmission when doing a road test but I do not have a button to turn it off. And another question strikes me is I do not know if I have an aftermarket lockup torque converter. I bought the truck used from a 3rd party and do not know the first user. All I know is the truck was registered in Mississippi and he tow a fifth wheel trailer as the brackets were welded on the frame. I am guessing he had the transmission rebuilt at least 1 time as I bought the truck with 240K on it. I do have a Rev Max valve body

Are saying that you don't have this button (in the photo below) on the end of your transmission shifter? This overdrive lockout switch is stock on a 2001 truck.

I had a 12 valve before this one and the button was on the dash. I never knew they relocated the button on the end of the shifter. 4 years I never knew it was there but then with the price of fuel I did not use the truck that much and hardly ever in the winter so as to not get salt on the truck. Learn something new every day

My 1998.5 had an O/D lockout button at the end of the shifter. It stopped shifting into 4th and allowed T/C lockup in 3rd.

That’s the way it’s supposed to work. With OD off, it will lock up in 3rd. It’s simple to take that switch apart and clean the contacts. I posted a thread about it with pics years ago.
